Neck Lift Vs. Neck Lipo
Your neck is often one of the first places on your body to show your true age. People often forget to moisturize or apply sunscreen to the neck, which means that it can often look wrinkled and saggy before your face ever catches up. What’s more, gaining or losing weight can also have a profound impact on your neck’s appearance, as sagging skin and muscles can produce the dreaded “turkey neck” that people fear. Fortunately, there are multiple treatments that can help counteract against the effects of loose skin or fat around the neck; two of those treatments are a neck lift and neck lipo. While these treatments may sound similar, it’s important to know the difference between the two, and what results you can expect. Example of a Neck Lipo Neck Lipo: Neck liposuction is exactly what it sounds like. Liposuction procedures are used on the neck area, which helps the plastic surgeon remove excess fat that might have accumulated around the neck. Neck lipo is not meant to remove deep fat to the muscle, so it’s important to understand that this may only produce a more contoured result. After the fat is removed, the plastic surgeon will rely on the intrinsic elasticity of skin to heal itself. Neck lipo is not right for everyone and it’s typically best for younger patients. If you want your muscles tightened so you can put an end to a saggy neck, neck lipo won’t produce the results you want, as there’s no muscle tightening involved in this procedure. You must be a healthy candidate with realistic expectations to undergo neck lipo.Example of a Neck Lift Neck Lift: A neck lift (or a platysmaplasty) primarily focuses on tightening the sagging muscles in the neck area, which is typically responsible for producing loose jowls, sagging skin, and the turkey neck appearance. During the neck lift procedure, the plastic surgeon will remove the fat and tighten the muscles; you can also have deeper layers of fat removed (underneath the muscle) for a more dramatic look. Once the muscles have been tightened, the plastic surgeon will trim the excess skin. As you can see, a neck lift is often more appropriate for older patients who do not have good skin elasticity. You must be a healthy candidate with realistic expectations to undergo a neck lift.
