What Should You Expect From Breast Lift Scarring?

For many women, the idea of enhancing the chest area is a compelling one. A bigger bust can help restore confidence levels and self esteem. Women who’ve recently given birth or are breastfeeding, as well as women who’ve gone through dramatic weight loss or weight gain, may be unhappy with their breasts and want to give them a lift. However, many women may be hesitant to undergo a breast lift or breast augmentation with lift simply because they’re afraid of scarring. These fears are legitimate; after all, many plastic surgeons still use traditional incision methods when performing a breast lift procedure. This incision often produces what’s known as the “anchor scar,” as it stretches around and down from the areola and goes underneath the bust (from sternum to). This scar can detract from an otherwise natural looking or tasteful breast lift results.

As a distinguished board-certified plastic surgeon specializing in breast lifts, Dr. Frederic H. Corbin has developed unique new ways of performing breast lift procedures with minimal scarring involved. At his two locations in Beverly Hills and Brea (Orange County), Dr. Corbin can help patients choose the best breast lift procedure: a breast lift with implants, or a breast lift without implants. To learn more about what scarring can be expected with these breast lift procedures, take a look at Dr. Corbin’s methodology:

  • Breast Lift with Implant: If you’re looking to enhance your bust line using traditional implants, Dr. Corbin can provide a breast lift with augmentation. The type of breast lift procedure will be determined by one’s body type. With a Benelli lift, or circum-areola mastoplexy, often referred to as a donut lift, Dr. Corbin will remove skin around the areola and via purse-string stitch, tighten underneath the skin. Scarring is typically much less noticeable than traditional breast lifts. Another lift performed by Dr. Corbin is the circum-vertical mastopexy, or what the public refers to as a “lollipop lift.” A circular incision is made around the areola and then vertical incisions are made via which the aerola and breast are lifted and tightened. Like with the Benelli lift, scarring is minimized in this procedure.

  • Breast Lift without Implants: If you don’t want to enhance your bust line, just give it a lift, Dr. Corbin may recommend a breast lift without implants. As mentioned above, the type of lift Dr. Corbin recommends depends on your body type.
