"I have been a long time patient of Dr. Corbin. He has done multiple plastic surgery procedures on me through the years and I have been nothing but pleased with the outcome of all of them. On Sept. 6th 2017 I had the 'Big One' as far as plastic surgery procedures go. I had my breast implants exchanged for bigger ones, I had a nose job, and eyebrow lift, an extensive neck lift, and face Tite. It was a rough ride to say the least, but 6 months post op I am so happy that I decided to go through with all of it at one time. The results are amazing and I feel like a renewed woman. Dr. Corbin is the best plastic surgeon in practice. His staff is exceptional, especially Dee, and they go out of their way to do everything in their power to make you feel at ease and comfortable with your decision to have the procedures done. Dr. Corbin has changed my life for the better and I would not hesitate to direct anyone I know to him for anything. Doctors like Dr. Corbin are a rare breed and there is noone else in his field that even compares to him. It has been a great blessing for me to know him and be his patient. Ideal Candidates for Neck Lift
Patients hoping to undergo neck lift surgery generally have visibly loose skin along their neckline. Neck skin that hangs is often caused by several factors, including major weight loss and aging. Regardless of the reason, loose neck skin can cause an unflattering look, which in most cases can only be corrected with skin removal and tightening. If your weight is stable but you feel challenged by lines, wrinkles, and loose skin on your neck, then a neck lift may be a suitable treatment option.
How a Neck Lift Is Performed
For neck lift surgery, general anesthesia is used. Dr. Corbin will make an incision just in front of or behind your ears and may also make another one beneath your chin. If pockets of neck fat exist, liposuction would be completed first to remove that fat. Next, Dr. Corbin will trim away any loose skin and will pull the underlying tissue and remaining skin tight. He'll use this technique until the desired contour, shape, and smoothness has been attained. Although sutures are used to close the incision, scarring should not be visible since the incisions reside beneath your chin. Other nonsurgical options may also help the skin's texture and surface, such as laser treatment or a peel, to create a vibrantly glowing appearance.
What to Expect After a Neck Lift
After neck lift treatment, there will likely be some mild swelling and discoloration from bruising, but these should go away within a week or two. You should rest and avoid exercise and strenuous activity for several weeks to assist in a safe recovery. During this time, button tops or loose-fitting clothing is ideal. You should see visible aesthetic differences almost immediately. In fact, it has been noted that the neck lift treatment can make one of the biggest enhancements to a person's profile, taking up to a decade off their appearance.
Neck Lift FAQ
How much does a neck lift cost?
The cost of your neck surgery will be reviewed during your initial consultation with Dr. Corbin. As soon as he has created your personal treatment plan, he can estimate prices for the facility, anesthesia, and miscellaneous fees. To help make your neck surgery easy to afford, Dr. Corbin Plastic Surgery accepts several payments methods, plus we can tell you more about how to get low-interest medical financing.
What about nonsurgical options?
Neck lift surgery is the best option to remove loose skin, particularly if it droops or hangs. Although there are some nonsurgical skin tightening procedures that can give you some improvements, surgery is the most effective solution to smooth and redefine your neckline. A popular, new, minimally invasive treatment called Kybella® reduces fat in the submental area, which give the appearance of a double chin, but it does not address excess skin.
Will I have visible scars?
Neck lift surgery does require an incision below the chin as well as two more near the ears. However, these are made so the scars are difficult for others to see. Dr. Corbin makes every effort during neck lift surgery to minimize visible scarring. You will also be given scar care instructions, which will help your incisions to heal thin and flat.
Can I combine a neck lift with other facial surgeries?
During your consultation, you can bring up that you are considering another procedure, like a facelift or a chin implant, along with a neck lift. It's common for these additional procedures to be combined to get the best results. If you have any concerns about a weak chin or undefined jawline, talk to Dr. Corbin so he can develop a plan that meets all your goals.
Should I get a neck lift or liposuction?
Depending on your needs and goals, you may consider combining a neck lift with liposuction. This can be best if you have both excess skin and stubborn pockets of fat in your neck. Dr. Corbin can help you choose whether a lift, liposuction, or both should be included in your surgical plan during your consultation.
